We are working hard!

During "Letter of the Day", as a whole group we have been sound-spelling 3 words beginning with the "Letter of the Day" and writing a sentence with one of the words.  Next week the students will be doing this activity independently.

In Math, we have been counting by 2's, 5's and 10's.  We also have been working in a "Number Galore" book.  In this book we discuss whether a number is even or odd.  We also are learning there are many ways to show a number.  We can show a number in words, by writing a numeral, with tally marks and in ten frames.  We are also are using addition to create the number.  Next week we will do many calendar activities and 100 activities to celebrate the 100th Day of School!

During writing time, students are working on writing sentences independently.  Students are having fun writing about the "Star of the Week".  We are also practing our sight words during this time.  We are building our sight words, graphing our sight words and finding them and writing them in sentences.  At the end of this sight word rotation, students should be able to read List 1 words quickly and write the words with little to no assistance.
